Accounting Zealot (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by Digital Accounting Zone LLC (“D.A.Z.”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the Accounting Zealot mobile app.
Accounting Zealot is designed with your privacy in mind. The core app stores all data locally on your device. Your transactions, categories, vendor rules, and settings are saved in a local database on your phone. We do not have access to this data and it never leaves your device unless you choose to export it.
AI-powered categorization is off by default. If you turn it on, you choose between an on-device language model (nothing leaves your device) or bringing your own API key for a cloud provider you select — Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq, OpenRouter, or a local Ollama/LM Studio server. If you choose a cloud provider, transaction details (merchant, amount, date, description) are sent to that provider for categorization; no bank credentials or account numbers are included, and we do not receive or store the request.
Core app (no account required): We do not collect any personal information. All data remains on your device.
Auto-Import subscription (optional): If you choose to subscribe to the automatic bank import feature, we collect your email address via Google Sign-In for authentication. When you connect a bank account through Plaid, transaction data (dates, amounts, merchant names, descriptions) is transmitted through our server to your device but is not stored on our servers. We do not receive or store your bank login credentials — Plaid handles authentication directly.
Payment information: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number. Stripe provides us with your subscription status and customer ID.
For core app users, we do not collect or use any personal information. For Auto-Import subscribers, we use your email address solely for authentication and your Plaid connection solely to retrieve and deliver bank transactions to your device.
Your local data is stored in an encrypted SQLite database on your device. For Auto-Import subscribers, bank connection tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM encryption on our server, and all data is transmitted over HTTPS.
We do not sell your data. For core app users, no data is shared with anyone. For Auto-Import subscribers, data is shared only with service providers necessary to operate the feature: Google (Sign-In authentication), Supabase (account and session storage), Plaid (bank connections), Stripe (payments), and Vercel (hosting). If you turn on cloud AI categorization with your own API key, transaction details are also sent to the provider you choose (Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq, or OpenRouter).
Your local app data remains on your device until you delete it. We do not retain copies. For Auto-Import subscribers, canceling your subscription disconnects your bank connection at Plaid immediately, but your account record on our servers — including your encrypted Plaid token, email, and Stripe customer ID — is retained until you request deletion (see Your Rights below).
You can export your data at any time using the CSV export feature. You can delete all local data by clearing app data or uninstalling the app. Canceling your Auto-Import subscription does not delete your account record — to request deletion of your Auto-Import subscription data, contact us at support@accountingzealot.ai.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted by updating the date at the top of this page.
